Lately I have found many really good games, both in game play and in story. One being Blue Prince and the other being Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. Both completely different games that redefine genres and games in general.
Blue Prince was the first one I played and is amazing. It’s like if you mixed Myst with a board game in the good way. My only complaint would be the randomness of the draws but otherwise it is highly recommended and super fun. I love all the deep lore in this game and finding out all the puzzles.
Now Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is much different. It’s a classic JRPG style game, that is very French and has an cool mechanic in the timed battles where you can dodge, jump, and counter attacks from your enemies which from what I hear is necessary in later game.
Both I love for story so far though. Exp33 is a trippy jaunt through a painted world, and Blue Prince has hints of rebellion all throughout. And all it does is make me want to make my game.
So I haven’t done much with my game lately… well that’s not exactly true I have been writing some basics to it. I have a decent start to the story but I think I need more. And with Final Fantasy Tactics, one of my inspirations for my game, I have a decent start but feel I need some more personal weight to the character.
I already have him starting and being taken by military forces because they think he’s a protestor/rioter, even though he was just passing by on his way to work, and him meeting another character whom he befriends, and I think I want to make that similar to Delitas and Ramza, but maybe a bit more spicy. Otherwise I have the ideas for a great typical RPG so I think it should be good. The only real issue is… working on it. I will keep plugging at it though cause I really want to do something with it rather than just having sit in my head.
